How a criminal record can effect a healthcare worker's ability to work

By: Attorney, Michael S. Brown

I'm attorney Michael Brown. I'm a local attorney here in Orlando. I practice in healthcare law and criminal law.

One one thing I'd like to discuss is how a criminal case, getting arrested by the police, impacts the ability of a healthcare worker's ability to work. So basically if you're a nurse a doctor even down to the maintenance worker or the chef at a healthcare facility, if you get arrested you can't go back to work the next day most likely. So you have to finish your case with me in criminal court before the judge before I can even help you with the administrative agencies like AHCA, the agency for healthcare administration or Department of Health or your board. So until you're done with the judge. And so, having someone like me with my experience, I know what the conviction or The Plea or the trial is going to do to you later with your ability to work. Because a lot of people care how they're going to provide for their family. It’s their career. So it's important to have someone who understands the case with the judge and the consequences that case is going to have on your ability to work. And if you're an immigrant, on your ability to stay in the United States.

I don't do Immigration law, but those are things you have to take into consideration.
